Introduction to Silviculture
Introduction to Silviculture provides students with basic field skills and knowledge to be employed as a Silviculture Surveyor trainee under the supervision of an Accredited Silviculture Surveyor.

During the 5-day course students will learn to identify local trees and plants.  They will identify insects, disease, and other types of damage to immature trees.  Students will establish sample plots in plantations; measure/record trees and vegetation; and map field information. They will also gain knowledge in basic sampling theory and design applicable to silviculture surveys.

Prerequisites:
  • Students must be prepared to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Silviculture Surveying can be physically demanding so applicants should be physically fit.
