Assessments & learning assistance

Coast Mountain College provides a number of ways to access support to ensure a successful and rewarding educational experience.

Learning Assistance Specialists assess learning difficulties and provide helpful strategies to lessen effects that act as a barrier to success. Free student success workshops are available on the Learner Services Brightspace Shell.

Students experiencing learning difficulties, for any reason, are encouraged to contact a Learning Assistance Specialist or any member of the Student Services team. To book an assessment, contact a Learning Assistance Specialist at

WriteAway is British Columbia's collaborative online writing tutoring service. Learners at Coast Mountain College can receive feedback and strategies to improve their writing from qualified tutors.

WriteAway tutors provide feedback on course-based academic writing assignments keeping in mind the objective of developing the academic writing skills of the writer. Tutors will refer requests not related to the student’s academic career to other service providers.

Requests for asynchronous online tutoring:

  • May be submitted 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
  • Will be responded to within 48 hours (although periods of high usage and low tutor staffing may result in longer turnaround times)
  • Will be responded to in the order of submission

For more information, connect with a WriteAway tutor by clicking on the WriteAway link.
