Scott, born and raised in Terrace, began his education by obtaining a Business Administration Diploma from Coast Mountain College. He then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Northern British Columbia. After graduation, he pursued a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia. During his studies, Scott received a research scholarship and was placed at the Canada China Business Council in Shanghai, China. There he studied Chinese civil procedure for the purpose of helping Canadian business get more transparent information about their potential business partners in China. 
 
He returned to Terrace to complete his articles and was called to the Bar in 2017. Scott started teaching at CMTN in the Business Administration program in 2018, specializing in business law and finance. In 2020, Scott received his Provincial Instructor’s Diploma from Vancouver Community College. 
 
In addition to his teaching experience at CMTN, Scott facilitated classes in the Nisga’a Project Management Program which focused on providing professional development for local government workers in the Nass Valley. He has also taught in University of Victoria’s Indigenous Advancement of Cultural Entrepreneurship program (NW-IACE) and Advancement of Indigenous Management (AIM) program. Scott regularly works on the development of Open Education Resources for students. His most recent project for BC Campus, published in October 2022 in collaboration with Annette Sorensen, is the text, "Indigenous Perspectives on Business Ethics and Business Law."
