Strategic Plan Overview

Message from Dr. Laurie Waye, Coast Mountain College President & CEO:

Dear Coast Mountain College Community,

For the past ten years, Coast Mountain College (CMTN) has been guided by a strategic plan that focused on the college becoming the choice for experiential, place-based learning. That strategic plan gave the college a north star that guided us through turbulent times. Now, CMTN is embarking on the next strategic plan development process, which will include internal and external consultations. Consultations will be in-person in Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Smithers from the week of November 16 to 20, 2026 as well as online; there will also be a web page through which feedback can be submitted.

The project sponsor is the President, Dr. Laurie Waye, and the project lead is Interim Manager of Communications, Lucy Stanford. In addition, there is an internal Advisory Committee, comprised of staff, management, and faculty from the three campuses, to provide feedback to the consultants upon request. The process launches this month and continues until October 2027.

Please watch out for specific dates when HESA will be in your community for an engagement session.

Questions can be directed to President@coastmountaincollege.ca.
