Apply

Apply for student housing to enjoy a safe, welcoming community while you study at Coast Mountain College. We encourage you to apply early, as space is limited.

Dates to remember if you are applying for the Fall semester

  • October 1st: Applications to the College open for the Fall semester of the next academic year. Once you have been accepted into your program, you can apply to Student Housing.
  • April 30th: Course registration opens for Fall semester.
  • May 31st: Official Housing application deadline for Fall semester. Applications received by this date will be processed in June and prioritized according to our criteria. Applications received after this date will be considered late applications and will be added to the bottom of the applicant list in the order they were received.*
  • June 15th: Acceptance Letters and Housing Agreements are sent out to students who applied before May 31st and are registered in courses. “Housing Application Update” letters are sent to all students who did not meet the eligibility requirements, have not yet registered in courses, or will be placed on the waitlist.
  • June 30th: Deadline to receive signed Housing Agreements and accept your offer in Housing.
  • August 15th: Deadline to submit payment (Food and Beverage Card, processing fee, damage deposit, first month’s housing fees)

* If you have missed the May 31st deadline, we still encourage you to apply, as spots may still be available.

Eligibility and Placement in Housing

To be eligible for occupancy in Housing, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be registered full-time in a College program. Full-time registration is defined as enrolment in at least nine credits per term or a minimum of 10 instructional hours per week.
    • Eligibility for Housing is contingent on maintaining full-time enrolment status. Students who no longer meet the College’s full-time enrolment requirements, including as a result of withdrawal from courses or programs, will no longer be eligible for Housing.
    • Priority will be given to students who are enrolled in at least one face-to-face course or who must be physically present on campus.
  • Be able to participate safely and successfully in congregate living independently, or with reasonable and approved accommodations or external supports in place.
  • Maintain a satisfactory record of payment while residing in Housing.
  • Maintain good standing on their Housing record, i.e. not violate the Housing Policy or Handbook, throughout the academic year.
  • Keep assigned units, individual rooms, and shared spaces in a clean and acceptable condition for the duration of occupancy.
  • Maintain respectful conduct while residing in Housing.

We thank everyone for their interest and application to Student Housing; however, as space is limited, application does not guarantee placement.

Mandatory Food and Beverage Card

All students staying in Housing are required to purchase a Food and Beverage Card each semester. The mandatory purchase will be $700 per semester, which provides the student with $1,000 in Food and Beverage Card credit. Students staying in Housing for the full academic year will be charged $700 in September and an additional $700 in January. Students whose Housing term is shorter than a full semester will receive a pro-rated Food and Beverage Card amount based on the length of their program.

The card does not expire, is refillable, and any unused credit can be carried forward and used in future semesters. Credits can be used at both the campus cafeteria and café for a variety of items, including meals, snacks, beverages, and coffee. The campus café and cafeteria offer a variety of meal options, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, and other options to meet a range of dietary needs.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Housing Office at housing@coastmountaincollege.ca.
