Carpentry Apprenticeship Instructor - Term

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for a term Carpentry Apprentice Level 1 Instructor in Prince Rupert and Apprentice Level 2 in Skidegate. The appointment will commence October 13, 2026 and end March 5, 2027 for a total of 590 instructional hours (subject to minimum student enrolment). Travel will be required to Skidegate to deliver the Level 2 course. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale.

Duties:  The Instructor will facilitate learning (delivered in a combination of classroom and in shop instruction) and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required.

• Carpentry Apprenticeship Level 2 – Skidegate – January 5, 2026 – February 26, 2027

Qualifications:  Carpentry Journeyperson certification and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Require skills/abilities include:

• A valid Class 5 Driver’s license
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners of all ages
• Knowledge and passion for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
• Effective cross-cultural communication skills, particularly with the Indigenous communities
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
• Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
• Intermediate computer skills (word processing, excel, email)
