Patrick J. Hayes was a Career and College Preparation instructor, employed with Coast Mountain College (CMTN) for 23+ years. He worked in the Terrace-Kitimat area from 1975 to 1978 until he moved to Hazelton where he worked at the campus there from 1978 to 1999. Pat encouraged many students over the years to pursue their education goals. He would always say, “Focus! You are a winner, and I know you can do it!” 

A $500 award is available each year to a student who is pursuing higher educational goals at Coast Mountain College. Students must be from, or studying in communities from the Houston to Terrace area. Instructor recommendation will be sought for applicants to verify that the award recipient demonstrates that they are truly driven, with good work ethics to attain their end result. 

Criteria

To be eligible a student must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee, and BC resident;
  • Be studying within the Houston to Terrace area in any CMTN program full-time (60% course load min);
  • Submit a letter on how this award will help their education;
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from an instructor in support of the student's use of good work ethic to attain end results.
