Coast Mountain College is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our Student Housing department as a Housing Advisor (HA). The HA will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive living environment for students, promoting their intellectual, ethical, social, and spiritual development within a vibrant community setting.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled as a full-time student at Coast Mountain College for a minimum of one academic year.
- Minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 2.00 at the time of application, maintained throughout the term of service as HA.
- Maintain full-time student status.
- Good judicial standing with the institution.
- Acceptable criminal record check (CRC).
Responsibilities:
Community Development:
- Provide leadership for a community of 10-20 occupants, knowing all occupants by name within the first 3 weeks of each semester.
- Foster positive relationships through availability, accountability, creativity, credibility, and confidentiality.
- Engage in intentional conversations with occupants to encourage personal, social, spiritual, career, and academic development.
- Plan and implement monthly programs/activities to promote cooperation and community engagement.
Administrative Tasks:
- Participate in regular on-call coverage as assigned.
- Assist with administrative reports and day-to-day operations of Student Housing.
- Plan and implement four programs/activities each semester.
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner, meeting deadlines consistently.
Support of Policies and Standards:
- Uphold institutional and housing standards as outlined in CMTN’s Student Housing Handbook.
- Respond to lockouts and communicate disciplinary problems promptly to the Coordinator.
- Enforce cleanliness standards and assist with conflict resolution.
- Assist Security with room checks and support fellow HA's as needed.
Staff Training and Development:
- Participate in staff training sessions and monthly meetings.
- Facilitate monthly house meetings and contribute to performance evaluations.
Time Commitment:
- Expect to put in at least 20 hours/week, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
- Personal extra-curricular activities should not conflict with the duties of the HA position.
Remuneration:
- Housing Advisors receive a single rent-free room (valued at $600/month) and a letter of recommendation from the Student Housing department.
