Workforce Training Courses - Curriculum Developer - Term

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Smithers, Prince Rupert, Terrace or Haida Gwaii campus, invites applications for a non-regular position to design and develop curriculum for the three Workforce Training Courses as outlined below. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale ($37.55 - $53.80 per hour).

Term: Jun 1, 2026 – July 15, 2026

Duties: The Curriculum Developer is responsible for producing a complete course package that includes a course outline with detailed learning outcomes, an annotated list of recommended resources, PowerPoint presentations and learner activities, lesson plans aligned to the 6-hour course structure and evaluation tools (formative and/or summative). A maximum of 18 hours of development time per course (54 hours total) is allocated for all deliverables. The successful candidate will produce complete, ready-to-deliver course packages for the following short-format courses:

  • Conflict Management & Communications/Public Relations
  • Time Management
  • Critical Incident Stress Management

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field. A Provincial Instructor's Diploma or other relevant teaching certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning principles
  • Proven experience developing engaging, evidence-based training materials for workplace or professional development audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to create content suitable for delivery within a learning management system such as D2L/Brightspace
  • Subject-matter knowledge in one or more of the following areas: conflict resolution and workplace communications, time management and productivity, and/or critical incident stress management and trauma-informed practice
  • Skilled in designing practical, learner-centered activities and assessments that reflect real-world application
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately within defined scope and time constraints, meeting deliverable deadlines for all three course packages
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and document design skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and incorporate feedback into course materials
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in workplace learning and professional contexts
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and sensitivity to diverse learner backgrounds and contexts
  • Advanced computer skills and digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and LMS tools
