Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a non-regular Automotive Instructor for the Friday Trades School program as outlined below. A flexible schedule may be required as some evening and weekend work may be necessary. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $37.55 to $66.37.

Duties:  Facilitate learning for students (high school aged) in an introductory Automotive program (through in-class and practical skills) and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required.

  • Introduction to Automotive- September 12, 2025, to June 5, 2026- Every Friday from 2:15 to 5:15 pm.

Qualifications

A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and substantial experience in a trade setting with an emphasis on safety procedures. Preferences include Journeyperson certification, a Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification, and teaching experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the local Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills
